Syllabus Information

1. General information

The main goal of the Civil Law module is to provide the student with the contents, competences and skills of civil law.  It is intended to enable them to analyze, interpret and propose intervention criteria aimed at offering the possible legal solutions to the conflicts they are aware of in their work, in matters relating to personal, family and property relationships of individuals. It also deals with the protection of minors and people with disabilities.

The part corresponding to Labour Law and Social Security Law provides training for an adequate knowledge and use of socio-labour policies in the framework of the different areas of social intervention related to specific groups and employment and in the field of social protection.

These approaches and goals are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations Agenda 2030 (https:// www.un.org/ sustainabledevelopment/ en/), so that the acquisition of the learning results of the subject provides training and competence to contribute to some extent to their achievement.

In particular with the following:

2. Learning results

1. Master the basic concepts and legal methodology of the subject.

2. Adequately select the necessary contents to solve a theoretical-practical topic on labor law Person, Civil Property Law and Family Law.

3. Diagnose assumptions and properly apply labor regulations and social and labor policies in given scenarios.

4. Analyze a practical problem and structure it in order to explain it and establish possible intervention criteria for those who request it.

3. Syllabus

PART I. CIVIL LAW

Unit 1. Private law and civil law. Standards and legal system.

Unit 2. Civil property law.

Unit 3. Personal rights.

Unit 4. Family Law. Relationship. Maintenance obligation. Support measures for persons with disabilities for the exercise of their legal capacity.

Unit 5. Affiliation. Institutions for the protection of minors.

Unit 6. Marriage. Personal and patrimonial effects. De facto unions.

Unit 7. Marriage crises.

PART II. LABOR LAW

Unit 1: Labor Law. The employment contract. The collective bargaining agreement. Social Security.

Unit 2:  Social and labor policies in relation to the disabled, immigrants, young people and other groups with special difficulties of integration into the labor market.

Master classes (T1): 30 hours

Problem solving and case studies (T2): 30 hours

Teaching assignments (T6): 10.10 a.m

Autonomous study and work of the student (T7): 60 hours

5. Assessment system

Assessment in the Civil Law Module:

Two assessment systems are established: a mixed one based on a continuous assessment process developed during the course plus a global final test (1) and another consisting of a single global final test (2), all in compliance with the current Regulations on learning assessment standards (Agreement of 22 December 2010 of the Governing Council of the University of Zaragoza).

1. Mixed system:

a) Resolution of practices: During the semester the students will have to carry out different practical cases or written tests, as well as and participate in their exposition or debate in the classroom. The overall result will be weighted 40% in the final grade.

b) Theoretical final test in official call: It will consist of a questionnaire of several questions that will weight 50% in the final grade.

c) Completion of teaching assignments, seminars and other tutored activities, which will be weighted 10%. It is saved for both calls.

They can compensate both parts of the course if in any of them the corresponding final grade is equal or higher than 4 out of 10, with a final result equal or higher than 5.

2. Single comprehensive examination system. It will apply to those who have not attended and participated in the classes and activities of the course; or who do not reach the minimum qualification. It will consist of three parts:

a) Resolution of a practical case which will be weighted 40% of the final grade.

b) Theoretical test consisting of a questionnaire with several questions, which will be weighted 50%. c) Completion of teaching assignments, which will be weighted 10%.

The same assessment systems will be applied in the second call.

The subject evaluation specifications will be included in the subject content in Moodle.

A grade of 5 or higher is required to pass, but a grade of 4 or higher in the Civil Law Module can be compensated with the grade in the Labor Law Module.

Assessment in the Labor and Social Security Law Module

The score will be calculated out of 10 and subsequently reduced to 1/3. Those 10 points will be obtained:

Continuous assessment

- 6 points theory type test (legislation on the table). Written test of 12 multiple-choice questions of 0.5 points each. 25 minutes of duration. Average with the practical part from 3 points (6 correct questions).

- 1 point active participation in the theoretical classes.

- 3 points attendance, performance and active participation in the practical classes. Average with the theoretical part from 1.5 points.

Final assessment:

Students who do not pass the subject through this continuous assessment process or who wish to obtain a higher mark, and those non-attending students, have the right to a final global test consisting of a written test type test (legislation on the table) of 14 questions of 0.5 points each with a total value of 7 points, and the development of a case practical (legislation on the table) with a total value of 3 points.

The theoretical part averages from 3.5 points (7 correct questions)

The average practical part from 1.5 points.

There are no type 6 practices.

You must pass the Labor Law part with a 5, but a grade of 4 or higher is compensable with the Civil Law part.

After the official convocation, the grades of Civil Law (value 2/3 of the total) and Labor Law (value 1/3 of the total) will be added to obtain the final grade of the subject. They can compensate both Modules of the subject if in any of them the corresponding final gradeis equal or higher than 4 (out of 10), with a final result equal or higher than 5.
